Physical Education

G.C.S.E. Physical Education is the study of Components of fitness, anatomy, physiology, sociology and psychology. By choosing P.E. students will learn:

  • About their environment
  • Physical and mental well being
  • How their body works
  • How to train for sport
  • Problem solving
  • How to effectively organise their time
  • How to work in a ‘team’ environment

Course Content

There are three components in G.C.S.E. as seen below:

Grades A* - G
Component 1 One written paper with short and multi part questions 1hr 30mins 30%
Component 2 Assessment based on exercise and activity profiles. This is the practical area of the subject and candidates must choose three sports from the categories provided 50%
Component 3 Oral examination based on candidate’s ability to analyse performance and to plan, apply, monitor and review their action plans. They must also show an ability to improve quality and effectiveness within their own performance. 20%
