On Thursday 8th October, the Upper Sixth Religious Studies class were treated to a visit by the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, Dr. Stafford Carson. The visit was just one appointment in a busy week for the Moderator in the Triangle area. After an introduction by Mr Dickie, the Moderator opened the floor for any questions the class had relating to our Christian Ethics course. If he was shocked or taken aback by any of our questions he certainly didn’t show it, and gave in depth answers to some very controversial questions. “What is your view on the role of women in the church?” and “How would you respond to two homosexuals wanting to get married in church?” were just two of the questions that Dr. Carson skilfully discussed. The class thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the Moderator’s visit and found it a great help in expanding our knowledge of ethical issues relating to our course.
