CIFA Mid Summer BBQ
28/06/2009

Coleraine Inst. Friend’s Association organised a Mid Summer BBQ on Saturday 20th June. The event was held at the Cranagh Marina and had both a nautical and a Jazz theme.

Mr Robert Anderson, the captain of the Lady Sandel took guests downstream for a short cruise towards the mouth of the River Bann. The complementary glass of sparkling wine, background jazz music along with beautiful scenery and good company all contributed to a very enjoyable start to the evening.

Back at the Cranagh on terra firma it was decided, due to a stiff breeze, to retreat indoors to eat the substantial barbecue and desserts. By this time the Easy Jazz Trio had taken to the stage to entertain us. Michael Watters played guitar, Jim McDermott saxophone and John Summers was on bass. They played a mixture of jazz standards and pop music with a jazz twist for the remainder of the evening.

The music, along with good food at a lovely venue resulted in a great night’s craic and the CIFA committee would like to thank all who supported the event.
