Three Inst students have been selected to represent County Londonderry Under 16 in the prestigious Milk Cup competition this summer. The Milk Cup competition attracts teams from all over the world and seasoned followers of the competition will recall watching several young players who later went on to play regularly in the English Premiership.

Goalkeeper Luke Forgrave has been playing his football locally for a number of years, with Triangle F.C. and then for Bertie Peacocks for the past two seasons. Currently playing for Bertie Peacocks Under 15’s he represents a very calm and confident last line of defence. He was a member of the Inst Under 15 team which won the Irish Society Shield in 2008/9 in a dramatic penalty shoot-out in the final, Luke scoring Inst’s first penalty and saving St Pius’ final penalty!

Joel Bradley is an enthusiastic right-winger who has played his football locally with Triangle F.C. for about five years before moving to Maiden City Academy for the last two years. Joel played for the Inst Under 16 team, semi-finalists in this year’s District Schools League.

Brad Surgenor played in central mid-field for four years for Triangle F.C. before moving to Maiden City two seasons ago, where he now plays right back, a position he has come to prefer.
