European Computer Driving Licence

This qualification is studied by pupils from the sixth form as part of their general studies programme. ECDL is an internationally recognised qualification which enables people to demonstrate their competence in computer skills. The record breaking ECDL is the fastest growing ICT user qualification in over 140 countries. ECDL is designed specifically for those who wish to gain a global benchmark qualification in computing to enable them to develop their ICT skills and enhance their career prospects.

ECDL is made up of 7 modules:

• Module 1 Basic concepts of ICT
• Module 2 Using the computer and managing files
• Module 3 Word Processing
• Module 4 Spreadsheets
• Module 5 Database
• Module 6 Presentation
• Module 7 Information and communication

At present all 6th form students complete the ECDL course as part of their sixth form general studies.
