What would you need to study for such a qualification?

Well, your first step has already been taken!

You have been working in Art & Design in years 8, 9 & 10 so you will be familiar with many of the skills needed when studying G.C.S.E. Art & Design.  You already have used a form of thought process which is inquisitive & analytical, where decisions are taken after scrutiny of visual & written evidence & which lead to high quality practical outcomes.  So what is the next step on the road to a successful career in Art & Design?  A qualification in G.C.S.E. Art & Design.

Over a 2 year period, you complete 2 pieces of coursework & 1 exam. which is really just another piece of coursework. Course work includes at least 1 field trip & allows for much more independent work.  1 piece of coursework has to be Fine Art & the other Design but the exam. can be either.

The course is completed in early May of the second year when all work is handed in for exhibition & marking & so time is freed up for other subject revision.

You should have nothing to fear from the amount of coursework to be completed, as a consistent & self-disciplined approach will give very good results.
