Study Skills & Revision Tips
- Don’t leave your revision to the last moment – start early and build it up gradually.
- Make sure that your workspace is peaceful and uncluttered.
- Work at a desk or table if possible.
- Make sure you have all your materials to hand before you begin.
- Plan your revision carefully; know exactly what each exam paper requires.

- Divide each subject up into manageable sections and organise a revision timetable so you will cover all the material.
- Make sure you get enough sleep eat properly and build in some exercise. All of these will help you stay relaxed about your revision and exams which will help you perform better.
- Make your revision active.
- Summarise the material – bullet points, key words, spider diagrams are all useful.
- Use colour to highlight the most important points.
- Put your revision notes on index cards.
- Go back through your revision notes – try explaining them to someone else; test yourself or ask a friend or relative to question you.
- Use websites to give you a new perspective on your revision topics. The list at the bottom of the page is for general revision sites; your subject teachers should be able to help you with ones which are subject specific.
